Overview:

 

Seeking an experienced Director of Child Development (DCD) to ensure compliance within all education and disabilities protocol across each applicable regulatory agency. The DCD will visit each center-based location at least monthly, in order to assess and/or train all relevant education staff. Through monitoring, T/TA, and the provision of services and materials, it is the Director of Child Development’s priority to ensure that center-based staff understand how to effectively implement all relevant Education and Disabilities protocol.

 

Duties:

  • Responsible for making certain that center-based staff understand relevant education and disabilities compliance pieces
  • Monitoring Site Visit Reports are to be completed at least once every 6 weeks which includes documenting summary of monitoring on the Education and Disabilities Site Visit Report and emailing to appropriate parties.
  • Curriculum Implementation for Infants, Toddlers which includes Developmentally Appropriate Daily Schedules and Classroom Routines, Age-Appropriate Opportunities for Movement and Exploration and Developmentally Appropriate Learning Centers & Units of Study.
  • Child Screenings and Assessments (Developmental and Behavioral Screens)
  • Ongoing Communication with Families (e.g. parent newsletters, communication books)
  • Effective collaboration with mental health consultation services to promote positive mental health and emotional functioning
  • Implementation of Health and Safety Classroom Checklist and Daily Health Checks.
  • Develop effective Disabilities Services Plan
  • Center-based leadership to meetings.
  • Reviewing child documentation to ensure all student files are current (Hard files and ChildPlus files)
  • Ensuring that sites are adequately supported in their implementation of all Education and Disabilities protocol.
  • Supervise Disabilities Coordinator, as well as overseeing coordination of all applicable Education and Disabilities services throughout the program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Early Childhood Special Education; Master’s Degree preferred
  • NYS Teacher’s Certification (Birth through 2nd and/or Birth through 2nd Students with Disabilities)
  • 4+ years classroom experience
  • 2+ years supervisory experience
